From humble beginnings in Auckland, New Zealand, Mitchell has built himself into a well-respected and renowned international acrobat, entertainer and ringmaster. Following his first professional performance in 2008 for Auckland’s Sky City Casino, he was subsequently invited to perform for the Cirque Du Soleil “Dralion” cast party. In 2011, Mitchell was contracted to be the entertainment manager for 42 Below Vodka’s pop-up carnival bar, Carnival 42 managing a team of 70 performers across 42 nights before touring with New Zealand’s own, Circus Aotearoa.
He has since performed at internationally televised events including the Commonwealth Games and Rugby World Cup as well as performing alongside some of the world’s best known DJ’s including Sigala and Martin Jensen as a resident aerialist and fire performer at Australia’s most prestigious nightclub, Pacha at the Ivy Lounge.
In Australia he started his own agency, Strongman Circus Entertainment. During this time, he taught aerial acrobatics at Lee Academy and had several TV appearances including the BBC’s Midsomer
Murders, headlined cabarets across New Zealand, Australia and a season as the closing act for Circo Roberts in Mexico. Mitchell has been invited to teach workshops and masterclasses on handbalancing, aerial acrobatics and tumbling for gyms, pole studios, dance academies and as an advisor on theatre productions around the world.
In 2017 Mitchell was nominated “Best Ringmaster” and “Top Male Artist” in the 2017 Australian Circus Awards and was the headline act for the New Zealand Circus and Juggling Festival 2018.
Having spent two years touring throughout the United Kingdom with Jay Miller’s Circus as their Ringmaster and Aerialist, a summer season with Cirque Grande New Zealand and completing a tour with The Wonder Circus, Mitchell toured with Weber’s Circus Australia before returning to New Zealand where he now works as an Event Manager and producer.
