Tony Painting and The Power are an Auckland based Blues Rock Band fronted by ex-pat Brit guitarist and vocalist Tony Painting, their special brand of blistering guitar based boogie blues/rock is a real show stopper.

Tony Paintings UK roots are well known having spent the better part of three decades as a working musician, touring the many pubs and clubs in the UK.  Tony’s first band was called National Hero, invited to join at 17.  Following on Tony co-founded Deep Purple Style band ‘New England’ then later joining punk band ‘The Sussed’.

It was around this time Tony heard Stevie Ray Vaughan for the first time and he was hooked, soon after forming ‘The Band of Gypsys’ a Birmingham based band focusing on the blues based rock of Jimi Hendrix, Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher, Robin Trower and of course Stevie Ray Vaughan.  An Album “Band of Gypsys” was soon released with Tony composing all but two of the songs.  This led on to Tony being invited to either support or play with some of the Uk’s best known artists including, UB40, Jools Holland Big Band, Ruby Turner, Ozzy Osborne and Robert Plant.  Notable performances for Tony were supporting Ozzy Osbornes Blizzard of Oz tour with late American guitarist Randy Rhoads and playing the UK Biker Bash to 80,000 people.

Tony and he guys have gained a formidable reputation for their tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan. But never happy to be standing still the guys (adding two more members) are launching a Deep Purple Tribute in 2017.

For Tony Painting and the Power, Tony is ably supported by a rockin rhythm section consisting of Mark Dunasemant on Bass and Neil Williamson on Drums. Both Neil and Mark have varied musical back grounds, Rock, Pop, Blues, Funk and country, they’ve played it all at some stage.

Tony Painting and The Power released their latest six song EP ‘Get it Off Ya Chest’ with all songs composed by Tony in 2015.  No doubt more to come.
