After Five is an easy-listening jazz vocals and piano duo in Christchurch made up of Emma Summers on vocals and Glyn MacDonald on piano / keys. Together, with decades of experience in the Music Industry, and a passion for promoting the arts and great music around our city, “After Five” was created. They pride themselves on keeping their repertoire mostly true to the Jazz style but with a current twist, some more contemporary pieces thrown in, easy to listen to and perfect to be enjoyed by any audience at your event.

After Five also have a Trio option which includes an Upright Bass player for those events when you want a little more of an uptempo, fuller sound.

Emma has established herself as a contemporary jazz vocalist and teacher around Christchurch and is consistently pushing the boundaries by performing covers, yet adding a unique twist to them to create a more modern sound. She has performed at corporate functions, weddings, radio promotional material and many hospitality venues over the past 15 years and after spending a period abroad, has been calling Christchurch home for the past 5 years. Having spent her earlier years working in the hospitality industry, Emma thrives in social settings and is receptive to the event and nature of the performance, therefore providing a welcome, enjoyable environment for guests to be entertained.

Glyn is relatively new to Christchurch having moved here from Perth in 2020 but comes with a long list of accolades. Glynn crosses across multiple genres and instruments as both a pianist and trombonist and has performed all over the world including Vancouver, Rome, China, Malaysia and across Australia. Having collectively performed with jazz greats such as James Morrison, Terrell Stafford, Gary Bartz and support to artists such as James Taylor and Harry Connick Jr., the musical pedigree of his work continues to be recognised by peers, industry and audiences alike. His experience is second to none, and his versatility means he is able to appeal to a wide audience, catering repertoire to suit any occasion or event.
