Banger Band – Wellington & Lower North Island Party & Function Band
26th September 2026
'Hi David,
Banger Band is a professional Wellington and Lower North Island party and function band, specialising in high-energy live music that gets people dancing. Whether you're planning a wedding, corporate function, Christmas party, work party, birthday, private function or celebration, Banger Band delivers a powerful live show packed with popular songs that appeal to all ages, including crowd favourites such as Mr. Brightside, Summer of '69, 500 Miles and many more, delivered at a sensible volume.
If you're looking for a wedding band in Wellington or the Lower North Island, a dance band for your wedding, a corporate function band, Christmas party band or live covers band for a private celebration, Banger Band is a great choice. The band's extensive repertoire covers the 1960s through to today's hits, combining classic rock, pop favourites, party anthems and dance-floor fillers.
The aim is simple: keep the dance floor full and make your event memorable. Banger Band knows how to read a crowd, building the atmosphere from relaxed background music through to high-energy dancing as the night progresses. Occasional ballads give dancers a chance to catch their breath before the party starts again.
Live Music From Dinner Through To Dancing
If required, Banger Band can also provide an acoustic performance, making them suitable for background music during cocktails, drinks, dinner or pre-dance entertainment before switching to the full live band for the evening's dancing.
This makes Banger Band a flexible option for anyone looking for live entertainment in Wellington and throughout the Lower North Island, whether it's a wedding, corporate event, Christmas function, birthday or private party.
Experienced Professional Musicians
The members of Banger Band are professional musicians with extensive experience performing live. They have performed with well-known New Zealand acts including The NOODLES, THE BEATGIRLS, LOVESHACK and THE HIPNOTICS.
Their experience, versatility and professional approach mean you can relax knowing your entertainment is in experienced hands.

Thankyou David and the band for providing music for our AV Funding Youth Fundraiser in aid of Youth Line Wellington, held at Boulcott Heritage Golf Club. The Band started with very pleasant numbers at the beginning of the session. This was very pleasing and slowly started warming up the guest. They were able to continue their dinner, have a chit chat as well as had sweet music in the air. That was wonderful. Next of course as the evening progressed didn’t The BANGER BAND come alive with their full blown power. Yes the guest simply loved it. I bet there was no one left on their seats. All feet were on the dance floor.
Anselm and I felt the individual artist in the band blended well to provide a well-balanced, professional performance which was pleasing to the ears.
David, we found it very easy and pleasing to deal with you. The Banger Band did it all.
Thank You,
AnselmVino Martyn
