Michel has been playing the pipes for most of the last 30 years.
He started off with the Concord pipe band in the Netherlands and played with them at their prize winning attempt at the Scottish Championship in Dumbarton 2006.
Upon arriving in New Zealand, Michel played with the Auckland Police Pipe Band (grade 3) and the Auckland and District Pipe band (grade 1), before embarking on a new adventure. In 2008 he took on the job of Pipe-Major of the then defunct Otahuhu and Districts pipe band and led them to the National title in grade 4B in 2012.
As a piper he received tuition from a number of tutors, most notably the late P/M Angus MacDonald MBE, the late P/M Lewis Turrell MBE and is currently enjoying playing with the Red hackle pipe band under P/M Davey Welsh.
Since the beginning of 2012, he has been teaching bagpipes and highland drumming at various colleges in Auckland (including Dilworth School and King’s College). And since 2014 he has been involved in a new Celtic venture, called Clan Celtica. As such he is one of the few people in New Zealand that play bagpipes for a job.
Michel’s extensive repertoire will cover any occasion. He is happy to discuss your piping requirements and will guarantee a professional and memorable performance.
Michel has a number of kilts in different tartans available for performances. You can choose from:
Registered Chivas Regal is his main kilt.
But also has Gordon, Black Watch, Scottish National, Grey Highlander, Royal Stewart, Bruce, MacGregor, MacLeod of Harris, Flower of Scotland, MacLean of Duart muted, McKenzie, MacDonald of the Isles
As a solo piper Michel has played at various events, like weddings, funerals, corporate functions, birthday parties and the like, but will be happy to discuss bagpipe requirements for other events.

Yes all went well and Michael was great.........he played for longer than expected and was very much appreciated. The only complaint we had, which was from true Scotsmen was that he didn't play the pipes as he left and walked away. He did spent 10mins talking with Dad afterwards so that was really nice of him and I guess his bagpipes probably needed warming up again to play them as he left. No complaints from me and Dad was so appreciative of his performance. Please pass on our thanks to Michael as it was a very emotional time for us all.

I am writing to say how much we appreciated Michel Tent playing the 'Pipes' at my brothers funeral. As you know I could not make it back to NZ because of ill health, but my family and friends were ' blown away' by the effect that Michel and his playing made on the day.
The weather was as bad as it could be, but he turned up and played most beautifully and added such a wonderful deep meaning to the day for all who attended.
