Between the score of recognisable tunes, Amazing Sounds of Motown delivers informative and often hilarious banter between the talented, cast of New Zealand, Polynesian, and American born, musicians.

In 1959 founded by Berry Gordy Jr. as Tamla Records on January 12, 1959, and later incorporated as Motown Record Corporation on April 14, 1960 headquartered in Detroit, where the Big Three produced automobiles, it quickly became another Detroit factory. Motown assembled, soul and pop classics that changed America. Its name, a portmanteau of motor and town, which had become a nickname for Detroit.

In 1988 as a nonperformer Berry Gordy was inducted into the Rock and roll hall of fame. In 1998 he was inducted into the Junior Achievement U.S. Business Hall of Fame, and in 2013 he became the first living person to receive the Songwriters Hall of Fame's Pioneer Award.
