Rocky Rhodes is a Waikato-based live 4 piece covers band specialising in kiwi and classic rock, predominantly from the 70’s and 80’s, with hand-picked modern covers added as well. Extremely versatile, the band is well priced, friendly and easy to communicate with, and best of all has a formula to keep the dance floor full!
Formed in 2012, they recently had a line-up change with Jeff Stewart as guitarist replacing the original Neil Pascoe. The band plays completely live versions of well- known hits, and is an extension of the popular Crossroads Duo.
The band has gigged at many venues including Skycity Casino in Hamilton, the Kentish Hotel, Waihi Beach Hotel, plus many weddings, private functions, corporate and chartered club events.
The band also provides gear and talent for the popular Huntly Muso Club open nights which run monthly at Huntly RSA, this has been an institution for nearly 8 years running.

Mike Lynch (Keyboard & lead vocals) had a classical music upbringing but developed a keen interest in classic rock, especially kiwi, and is the “manager” of the band, handling the bookings and marketing side. Former bands include Rouge, Night Shift, 4x2, Hardcast, 90% and Two’s Company. As with the rhythm section, Mike is a Huntly local.
Jeff Stewart (Guitar and vocals) is a highly regarded and experienced guitarist, having started in the Hamilton band Lucifer (at one stage support for the early Dragon band), plus Hardcast, Two’s Company and Hit List, as well as backing well known artists such as John Rowles and Suzanne Prentice. He’s a regular at the Paihia Country Rock festival and has a busy schedule as currently is also one half of the popular male/female duo Lip Service.
Greg Allen (Bass & vocals) is a well- known Huntly businessman with a passion for rock music that saw him progress into a very capable bass player. In his early days as a musician he formed a local Huntly band which had a good following. With his IT background he also keeps the band advised of new technology and apps that are of great benefit.
Nigel Roberts (Drums & vocals) has been playing drums in bands since he was fifteen, and hails from Westport originally. He later progressed to the West Coast pub scene in various bands – including Red October, Cunning Stunts and Yassir and the Arafats.
To further his musical knowledge, Nige attended Christchurch Jazz school and completed 3 years of music education with Ted Meager. During his time in Christchurch, he enjoyed a short stint with alt-rock group Filer. Nigel later moved to Huntly to raise his young family, and joined Rocky Rhodes in 2013.
