Starlight String Quartet offers in excess of 25 hours repertoire when performed non-stop without a break! They play the A – Z of classical music and have received many compliments for their interesting and diverse repertoire selections. Their ensemble regularly updates performing repertoire, selecting only the finest arrangements - all performed with panache and sensitivity!
Although primarily a classical music ensemble, they are able to play 99% of more popular music selections. Depending on your request and copyright or accessibility issues, there may be a nominal additional charge if they need to seek copyright clearance or source an arrangement. If a piece does not work for strings - they will give you an honest opinion.
Starlight Strings commitment is to provide music selections that you will enjoy at your special occasion. If you do not like particular genres or pieces – please discuss with their musical director.

The Wedding Collection The choice of repertoire for a wedding ceremony is far more broad these days, and one is not strictly bound by traditional music selections. It is possible to include both popular and traditional choices if so desired. Swinging Strings Starlight String Quartet were invited to perform with legendary violinist the late great Stephane Grapelli on his final New Zealand tour and were fortunate to pick up a few tips on swinging…well, they can at least offer some great classical ‘impressions’ of the greatest jazz tunes ever written including Gershwin’s Summertime, The Man I Love, They Can’t Take That Away from Me, Fascinating Rhythm, Duke Ellington’s Satin Doll and Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing and favourite numbers like Making Whoopee, Moonlight in Vermont and Night and Day, It Might As Well Be Spring, 

Gypsy Strings For centuries, gypsy violinists have played highly expressive and hauntingly beautiful traditional melodies and classical themes in a manner so compelling that their heartfelt renditions move audiences to tears or compel them to leap to their feet in thrilled applause. Given the time they were at at the function - about 4 hours - we ensured that they were all provided with a meal - indeed the same offering served to our guests - and they were most appreciative of the fact that they were looked after in that manner.
