Pete McGregor Entertainment (PME) is owned and operated by Pete McGregor, a well known Auckland jazz and rock 'n roll bassist Pete originally started this web site in 1998 to promote his own bands and those in which he worked as a sideman. However he started to get inquiries for other types of bands and entertainers, so he added these to the site as well. This grew and grew and still grows with more acts being added each month. Not just bands, but also tribute shows, comedians, and public speakers. All acts added to the site are either known to Pete and/or his experienced staff, or undergo a audition process and evaluation by PME staff before they are added to listings. This assure quality.

Even if you cannot find your favourite band on the site, chances are PME can get them for you with their extensive industry contacts.
PME include acts right throughout New Zealand

PME offer clients:
*Professional prompt service
*PME is run by entertainers so we know what can be done and what cannot be done. We know what band will not suit a certain style of event. We know the stage size required etc. A lot of small details like these are missed by other entertainment agents who largely leave the booking arrangements to young office girls with no entertainment experience. (apologies to all office girls- Sorry girls!)
*All acts offered through PME have been vetted by the PME listing process as to suitability. We choose which acts we add to our listings. Not all applicants are accepted - your guarantee of quality.
*Full discussion with client as to suitability of act(s) for your event
*All bookings secured by written contracts for both Client and Act
*Clear contractual arrangements regarding meals, refreshments, dress codes, set up times, stage size, etc (no surprises - better than dealing with an act direct!)
*Only top quality, reliable acts provided
*All Taxation issues handled by PME
*Client and act contacted in week preceding event to ensure everything is as arranged.
*Fees held effectively in trust for payment to act. Payouts are made to the act 5 working days after event, so there is time for client to query payment if there are any issues with performances.

Yes we had a very successful 60th birthday party. Our DJ was terrific he knew exactly what songs to play to keep our guests on the dance floor for our age bracket. He was also extremely obliging when we asked for requests. A big surprise was that he could actually sing as well. I was also pleased that he stuck to the curfew time of midnight despite some of our guests asking him to keep going as the hotel we used had a no noise policy after midnight.

I will certainly recommend to any one using your agency to book a DJ or band in the future should the opportunity arise, the whole process has been handled very professionally and without one hitch.

Hi Kellie,

The NZ Blues Brothers and Abbey Road where both standout hits with the festival crowd on Sunday. After selling out on Saturday it was a great way to finish the festival weekend with more than two thousand people dancing and singing along with them.

Thanks also needs to go to the Mike Nisbet Trio for a great set, it is always a hard act to start any festival however the music was great and helped to set the tone for what was a great day enjoyed by all.

It was a great pleasure dealing with Graeme Webb prior to the event, he made things very easy. Unfortunately as I was the groom, and the band played while we where away doing our photos, I only got to hear one song when I returned. But that one song was excellent, set the tone and mood precisely as I'd wished, and the feed back I got from all the guest I spoke to about the music was glowing. They where spot on by all accounts, so I couldn't ask for more. If I ever was in the position to hire or recommend a Jazz Trio in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to sing the Graeme Webb trio's praises'. Please pass on my sincerest thanks.

Yes, thank you very much. We had an amazing day and all the acts were
fantastic. They really added to our special day. The string quartet arrived
on time and were friendly, and in perfect harmony, making our wedding
ceremony a beautiful memory for all. Many guests commented on the
professionalism of the performance. Sasha was also perfectly on time and
entertained well with his beauiful music and fun personality while the
bridal party were away on a photo shoot, and also later as the guests were
seated in the marquee. Absolutely brilliant! Then, of course, the DJ Eddie
added the perfect ending to the perfect day! He played all our requested
tracks, plus a few of his own favourites and the dance floor was a busy
place full of laughing and happy guests, all the way to midnight!

We have sent formal thank yous to you and the acts. please could you forward
the cards to the appropriate acts, as we do not have their individual
addresses. The envelope with these cards has been sent from the Cook Islands
today, and should arrive in less than ten days.

I am just writing to thank you for all your efforts in organising the band for our Christmas Social. As usual you are very efficient and a pleasure to deal with. Well done Pete.
As for the band Rectroactive, they were absolutely fantastic. They contacted us the week before the event to make sure they had all our details correct. They arrived early on the day and were fully set up ready to go by mid afternoon. They started the gig bang on time and from the moment they started playing the crowds hit the floor. The quality and choice of there music was brilliant and their ability to engage with the audience was quite unique. They seemed to be enjoying themselves more than the crowd. The music kept coming all night with only two 10 minute breaks and it was a very happy crowd of party goers who reluctantly said goodbye to Retroactive.
We have had nothing but great feedback from our staff about the band, many of them commenting that its the best band we have ever had. That is saying something as we have been organising these functions for 20 years now. I have no hesitation in recommending Retroactive to anyone. Please pass our thanks on to the band.

Yes the event was absolutely fantastic. Everyone said is was the best function we had ever held. The Larry Morris band were superb. and Susy (Lee - as Helen Clark) gave an outstanding performance. We managed to keep her appearance secret to the end and she arrived at the venue to the sounds of a police siren and flashing blue light. I'm sure about 80% thought it was Helen Clark. Thanks for all your efforts it has been great to deal with such a professional organisation. We will be using you again that's for sure. In fact we are having a meeting tomorrow to finalise the show for variety show for our open day in September. I will be in touch tomorrow hopefully to confirm acts.

The band was great (Shagadelic) - arrived on time - setup in the right place, effectively and did a great job of
keeping everyone on the dance floor.
The vocalist had a great voice and the bass player (was one myself a few years ago) was possibly one of the best local guys I've heard.
The drummer and guitarist were also very good and the overall performance of the band was tight
and polished.
I also think your web site is excellent - it enabled us to see the band (picture) and also hear a montage
of their sound -which actually proved a pretty acurate sample!!
Everyone enjoyed the evening - a great location, good food and great entertainment.
Fron feedback that I've has we willbe doing something similar next year so I'll look you

how to use this site - we answer frequently asked questions:

How do I choose a band or act?
If you know the name of a band or act, use the drop down menu on right hand side of our home page. All acts that we have a web page for on our site are on this list. However we have many more acts available that have no page so please inquire.

Use the menu on the left hand side of every page to navigate our site - for example if you want a dance band, click on band/dance/local area and you will find a list of acts that are suitable - it's easy!

Use the search function on the bottom left hand corner of every page - type in key words relating to entertainment you want or band names, song names etc - pretty flash eh!

Call us on 09.8348355 and we will happily help. However as we are involved in lots of events each week we are not always in the office so email is the preferred method of communication

What does it cost?
We don't put prices on our web page because there are so many variables involving travel/arkward pack in/length of performance/band size etc. We are however usually able to give you an estimate of fees providing the performance is local for the act. Each act web page has an inquiry form specific to that act. Fill it in and press send and we will respond very quickly. This is the preferred inquiry method.

Sound Systems:
Unless otherwise stated prices quoted for bands will include sound system.
Bands normally have a system for playing interval music during band breaks

Set Up and Performance Times
Where applicable our Acts set up and sound check before the performance starts. So if you specify 7.00pm until 11.00pm performance the act will be there ready to perform at 6.45pm - they will have set up any equipemnt before that. If required acts will set up earlier in the day. However be aware that this can sometimes incur an extra fee
