The Bravos are an Auckland-based 5 piece soul band that perform a unique, gritty mix of Motown and funk as well as a selection of rock songs reworked in a Motown style. Their highly upbeat and danceable
set covers a wide range of music, including songs by Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight and the Pips, The Supremes, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Aloe Blac, the Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Bill Withers, Nina Simone and many more.
The Bravos are not a predictable replica of soul bands from the bygone era, rather, the Bravos deliver a fresh take on the genre for modern audiences with the shared goal of making the audience smile, dance, laugh, and sing along.
Led by American soul singer Meredith Bean, who’s powerhouse vocals come to the Bravos after a twenty-plus year career singing from L.A. and New York to the Southern States, the Marshall Islands, Hawaii and for the past 10 years, in NZ. She’s worked with members of iconic American rock/soul bands, and in
Aotearoa/ NZ with The Reputations and Troubadour (performances included Sawmill, Music in Parks, the National Jazz Fest in Tauranga, Galatos, Khuja and many more.) Guitarist Danny McCrum is probably one of the most accomplished young guitarists in the country. He's worked with and supported numerous artists including Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Jeff Beck, Tommy Emmanuel, Joan Armatrading, Simple Minds, Bryan Ferry, Jimmy Barnes, Lizzie Marvelly and many more. He's released three solo albums and played on many others.
The line up also includes Rob Franks on drums, Steve Sussex on bass and Matt Bizzle on sax.
The Bravos are sure to get your guests out of their chairs and on to the dance floor at your next event.
