Tamlin are a Celtic group who can provide a variety of Celtic music styles to cater for a wide range of performance requirements. They are available as a duo, trio or quartet

Linda Whitcombe is well known for her ability on the fiddle - able to play the fast paced dance tunes and accompany a haunting ballad with equal facility, but she is also a capable performer on the bodhran (Irish drum), whistle, and keyboard. . Linda is a member of Auckland Scottish Fiddle club and a medal winner at the Waipu Games for Scottish Fiddle.

Greg Whitcombe's main instrument is the accordion, but he plays bouzouki, guitar and hurdy-gurdy when the occasion demands it as well. The accordion deserves a further mention, as it is equipped with MIDI. This enables Tamlin to produce a very complete sound even as a duo, with bass, string section, and piano backing!

As a trio or quartet, Tamlin is a formidable band, capable of covering musical styles from Christy Moore & The Dubliners through to U2, and The Waterboys

A strong thread of Scottish music runs through the band’s performances – especially in ceilidhs & concerts.

The hurdy-gurdy is an unusual instrument, which is very much at home in the Medieval/Western European music which Tamlin also perform.

Ideal for: weddings, music for barn dance (with caller), ceilidh, celtic background, Celtic dance, Celtic themed event as well as medieval themed entertainment

Tamlin Options:
Tamlin duo for Celtic themed background
Tamlin trio for Celtic dancing
A caller can be arranged for called dancing

Thanks Robyn, the band were great. Fiona the caller was great at getting everyone up and dancing.
We will certainly bear you in mind if we need acts for future events.
Kind regards
Tim Stirrup

Hi Robyn,
The Tamlin trio were fantastic. The music was well played and they did a great job, especially integrating into the wedding service itself.
Lots of people asked how we managed to find the musicians, and I've let them know about your web site, or will for those where I didn't have it to hand.
Kind regards,
Jon Haddow

Tamlin were amazing and really capped off our celebration. Everyone
loved learning the dances and had a great time on the dancefloor. I
will thorughly reccomend the band to others planning events!

Hi Pete
They were exactly what we wanted and even helped us to learn a dance prior to the wedding to do as our "first dance". Many thanks.

Hi Pete, thank you the night went perfect.
The band was awesome the guests loved it, we were all in costume and had two girls spinning fire poi's in the dining room too, the combination was fantastic.
We cant wait for this Saturday to have it all again.
Kind regards
Daniel Milicich

Hi Kellie,
Everything went great thank you.
Tamlin were just perfect and people commented on how much they liked their music.
Thank you, would use you again.

Hi Kellie yes Tamlin were satisfactory, the caller was exceptionally good.
Many thanks
Susan Ralston

Hi Kellie
Greg and Linda were great, but unfortunately one of their members were sick, so we had a duo not trio, but still seemed to be a great success
Kind regards

Hi Pete
Just wanted to say that the band did a great job yesterday. Everyone enjoyed the music and we had quite a few enthusiastic dancers. I imagine that we were pretty hard work for them, so even more credit due!
Cheers, Ellen

Hi Greg and Linda
A slightly late say thank you very much for travelling into the provinces to play for us at Rivercelts in July. Those who had worked with you or heard you play before assured me that you would be absolutely wonderful, and they were right. The ceilidh was a huge success, as you saw, no doubt due in part to the advertising of your attendance. So, thank you for you attendance, and expertise, and for a jolly good evening.
Kind regards
Rosemary Ryan

Hi Pete

Thanks for the e-mail. The day went really well, John from the strings was most helpful and everyone appreciated the music. The Tamlin trio was also well received... All in all really excellent! I wouldn't hesitate in recommending either act.
Thanks again.
Pete (Watt - wedding)

Hi Peter

Could you please pass on our sincere thanks to Linda Willings for her "performance" at our wedding! Unfortunately I personally didn't get to hear much of her playing, due to being a late bride and of course being "away with the fairies" but we had great feedback and of what I did hear, was truly harmonious and very fitting for Owen and I.

Thanks and kind regards

Just wanted to send a quick thank you for what you all did on Saturday. It
was fantastic!!! Everyone said that they had a great day and night. Lots
of comments were made about the great band - so thanks!

Hi Linda and Greg,
Thank you for playing at our wedding on April 12th. You guys were
brilliant - we've had so many people say things like "That's the best dance
I've had in years!", "What was that willow thing about?" and other genuinely
appreciative comments. Everyone danced, had a good time and loved your
music. What you played was just great - really well judged for the occasion.

It was a magical day all round!

Just wanted to say thanks again for Saturday night, everyone had a great
time (though some couldn't last longer than 9pm, they'd been there 12 hours
already ).Your music was heard half way round the world, a mobile phone call to the UK while you were playing, and it was loud and clear.
Thank you, from all your fans at Redwood Park
