Boogie Rock , Blues Rock, Plus Original Material.
Fronted by U.K. Guitarist Tony Painting. Born in Birmingham, England
started playing in local pubs & clubs in the early seventies.
Formed rock band ‘New England’ ( Deep Purple style)
with some success, even supporting Ozzy Ozbourne’s ‘Blizzard
of Oz’. Changed style and joined a punk band ’The
Sussed’, got signed to the same recording label as UB40
and had a single played on national radio.
Late 80s formed ‘ The Band of Gypsys’ playing Boogie
Blues guitar Rock, recorded The Band of Gypsys C.D. which got
national air play and secured many festivals,( Bulldog Bash Biker
gig, 80,000 people) pubs, clubs & support gigs. Playing with
& supporting Ozzy Ozbourne, Jools Holland Big Band, The Groundhogs
, Robert Plant, Steve Gibbons, Budgie, Ruby Turner to name a few.
Moved to New Zealand and formed The Power band with seasoned Kiwi
musicians Ken Green ( keyboards ) Mark Dunasement ( bass ) Mick
Beck ( drums )
Playing covers from Albert King, Robert Cray, Albert Collins,
Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Rory Gallagher,
Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, Eric Clapton
