The Black Velvet Band

Often cited as being New Zealand's greatest influence on the folk rock
revival, The Black Velvet Band embraces traditional and contemporary
Celtic songs, original compositions and fresh interpretations of old
favourites.

Formed in the early 1990s at The Loft bar, Christchurch by Ian
Costello, The Black Velvet Band have performed at many high profile
events around New Zealand including headline shows in Cathedral
Square, Christchurch on New Years Eve, the Hokitika Wild Food Festival
and have mixed their music with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.

The Black Velvet Band generate an intense energy in their performances
and can be booked to perform at almost any occasion, venue or event.

Also available as a Ceilidh / Barndance band with a dance 'caller'
