Tango 55
The core repertoire of Tango
55 consists of works by Astor Piazzolla composed in 1955 just
before he returned to Argentina to promote the Tango Nuevo movement.
Tango 55 also performs other Piazolla works
as well as mainstream and other popular Tango music of a variety
of styles including Hananera, Milonga, Salon Tango, Waltz and
popular ballroom Tango conveying a range of moods from romantic,
melodic, rhythmic to passionate and vigorous. Occasionally, a
selection of South American and Eastern European items are also
performed.
The full sextet or a combination of smaller
lineups can be accommodated to suit functional and spatial requirements.
The group can also be supplemented with a vocalist, if required,
to perform “Tango Cancion” with such popular songs
by the legendary Carlos Gardel and other selections from the 1920s
and 1930s period.

The violin and guitar duo plays a broader range of South
American styles such as Samba, Bossa Nova a few popular
