Solid Gold Band
is Rotorua’s retro group playing popular songs from the
sixties until now, including covers from The Eagles, Carpenters,
Fleetwood Mac, CCR, Searchers, Roy Orbison, Beatles and popular
guitar instrumentals including The Shadows.
The line up consists of guitarist and singer, Bruce MacFarlane
with his wife Leah, whose powerful vocals and ability to interact
with the crowd make them a superb act on their own. The rest of
the group go back to the 1960s when their popular school-days
“Roulettes” band was to be seen at many functions
in the district. Drummer Ron Hall (father of Leah), Nick Anderson
on Bass and Brian Holden playing lead guitar add to the final
mix of Solid Gold Band. The group loves to get together at any
opportunity to entertain, sharing the enjoyment of playing all
those wonderful songs of the retro era.
