| 1965 - 1967: The Pleazers Shane's professional singing career started with fronting top Australian band "The Pleazers", with a reputation as 'wild and uninhibited'. They drew huge crowds to their live appearances and toured Australia and New Zealand several times during this period. 1968 - 1969: The C'mon Show Shane then formed the 'Shane' band in 1968. Several months later Shane then starred on New Zealand's favourite top rated TV shows C'mon 68 & C'mon 69. This culminated in continuous tours of New Zealand, for months on end and made Shane a household name. 1969: Golden Disc Winner of the Gold Disc & Top New Zealand Soloist awards In 1969 Shane received the "Gold Disc Award" and "Top Soloist" in New Zealand. This lead to appearances on top Australian TV show "Bandstand". 29th August 1969 - Saint Paul entered the New Zealand pop charts winning the 1969 Golden Disc Award As a tribute to 'Beatle, Paul McCartney', the song went on to become number one for 6 weeks making it one of the biggest local hits of the sixties. Shane has had international recording successes with songs, St Paul and Lady Samantha takes Shane on a tour of Germany and Holland with top acts "Shocking blue" and Andy Kim. Another tour offer coincides at this time in the Midwest states of U.S.A. where Shane is voted "Best Newcomer" in Billboards magazine and another single Heya sells well. 1970 - 1982: Cabaret & Cruise Ships to Heavy Metal & Punk During this time, Shane performed on cruise ships throughout the Pacific and Panama. Traveling throughout the U.K. and alternating between New Zealand and the U.K. Shane performed numerous cabaret shows appearing at top clubs. In 1977 Shane formed two bands, "Midnight Wolf" and "Killa Hz" in the U.K. - this was era of "Punk Rock" music. Based in London he was the lead vocalist and songwriter in these 'Heavy Metal and Punk Rock' bands, appearing at the famous top London venues the 'Speakeasy', ' Dingwalls' & 'Camden Towns Music Machine' where he suffered a fractured pelvis by accidentally falling head first from the 18 foot high stage. 1982 - 1994: Jesus Christ Superstar Based Back in New Zealand where he performed in the lead role of Jesus Christ Superstar with rave reviews around the country. Entertainment Co-ordinator "Royal Easter Show" Shane worked as Entertainment co-ordinator for the Royal Easter Show in Auckland for seven years putting together shows featuring international acts and kiwi acts. 1993 - 1998: "Kool 93 FM" Breakfast Host Shane was part of the breakfast crew and a host / DJ on "Kool 93 FM", prior to it becoming "Solid Gold FM". 1999 - onwards and upwards: Singer/Songwriter and performer Shane is currently producing his new CD at Stebbing Recording Studios in Auckland New Zealand, where he first recorded with the Australian band 'The Pleazers' in 1965. The release of this CD coincides with Shane's celebration of 40 exciting years in the entertainment scene. Currently he is touring with the very popular and successful '60's Rockz Show', with talented fellow performer Celine Toner and his sensational rock band 'The Saints' |
