The Trio.
This fantastic group features Ron Samsom
(Canada) on drums, Kevin Haines (Nathan Haines’ Father)
on upright bass and Dixon Nacey on guitar. Their album “Open
To Suggestions” has just been released to great acclaim.
Ron Samsom
– Drums: Ron’s musical career highlights include recordings,
Performances and workshops with international elites Nathan Haines,
Jim Brenan, Florian Ross, Stephen Harris, Karin Allyson, Randy
Brecker, Marlena Shaw, Slide Hampton and Bob Wilber. Ron heads
the jazz dept at Auckland University.
Dixon Nacey –
Guitar: 17 year music career has seen him perform with New Zealand’s
top jazz and pop artists including Nathan Haines, Tama Waipara,
Annie Crummer, King Kapisi and Whirimako Black. He also teaches
jazz guitar and improvisation at Auckland and Christchurch Universities.

Kevin
Haines – Bass: Kevin began his career
in the late fifties at the age of 15. playing with the Mike
Walker Trio. He formed the group “The Second Generation”
with his sons Nathan and Joel and since then has toured
with many world class jazz musicians. Including Cal Collins,
Nat Adderly, Mendell Lowe, James Morrison, Scott Hamilton,
Charlie Byrd, Shirley Bassie and Earta Kitt.
