Rockova
ROCKOVA
DUO consists of Peter and Claire Matthews (husband and wife team)
who use live instruments and vocals with full backing playing
background or dance music. Rockova has a vast repertoire that
can be customised to meet specific goals and desires for any event
and prides itself with filling the dance floor and keeping it
full.
Rockova plays a variety of music ranging
from sixties rock n roll, seventies classic hits through to today's
top 20 music. Artists include: ABBA, Boney M, Beatles, Bee Gees,
Duffy, Shania Twain, Ricki Martin, Kylie Minogue, Beach Boys,
Kenny Rogers, Rolling Stones, Robbie Williams, Elvis, Eagles,
Geri Halliwell.
Rockova’s specialty is weddings,
birthday parties, corporate functions, xmas functions and company
functions. Some recent events they have performed at are: Tasman-Makos
rugby pre match function, Whitney Street School Fireworks Annual
Event, National Lions Convention, Blenheim Round Table Reunion,
Youth for Christ Fundraising Ball, National Marching Conference,
Moutere Rugby Club Centenary, and many weddings and private functions.
Peter was a member of the famous NZ band
“Creation” in the 70s. He was in the backing band
for famous New Zealand artists (Rob Guest, Craig Scott, Bunny
Walters), international band, Paper Lace when touring New Zealand,
and pop television shows. He then went overseas and had a successful
career as a professional musician (specialty vocals and guitar),
playing in various bands in England and Europe (Norway, Germany
Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Holland) for many years. His band won
the Truman’s National Talent Contest in London. His wife
Claire joined the duo as a professional trained vocalist. She
has played at a wide variety of functions including weddings,
birthdays and corporate functions.
