Rhythm Futur

Jazz Duo

christchurch Area

“Rhythm Futur”- Reuben Derrick and Keith Petch - are two of Christchurch’s finest and most versatile jazz musicians who have been playing together professionally for several years. They have established a strong rapport and extensive repertoire. The main musical styles played by the duo are gypsy swing and bossa nova which is very versatile in terms of volume and energy required by the client, ranging from background “smooth jazz” to snappy swing music. For larger events “Rhythm Futur” can easily extend to a trio, quartet or quintet by calling in top Christchurch vocalists, bass players and drummers. This will allow for a more focal-point performance and will allow for other musical styles such as funk and reggae to be played.

Some of the venues in Canterbury at which we have performed are: Tiffany’s, Belgian Beer Cafe, the Twisted Hop, Dorothy’s, Le Plonk, Great Hall, the Heritage (Hanmer Springs), Kaikoura Winery, Sammies Jazz Revue, Fat Eddies, CPIT Auditorium, the Town Hall, Crowne Plaza, Riccarton House and Otahuna Lodge. In April 2010 we will be collaborating with Australian violinist, Daniel Weltlinger, for performances in the “New Zealand International Jazz and Blues Festival”.
