The Petersen Bowcott Trio are 3 string players who play in the Southern Sinfonia, Dunedin’s semi-professional orchestra. Tessa Petersen (violin) is the Executant Lecturer in violin at the University of Otago and has played recitals with her pianist husband, John van Buskirk, in North America and throughout New Zealand. Alison Bowcott (viola) is a teacher of both viola and violin in Dunedin and was a member of the viola section of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra for 20 years. Anna Petersen (cello) teaches cello in Dunedin and works at the University of Otago Hocken Library. She recently played for the Dunedin Operatic’s season of ‘Miss Saigon’. The Petersen Bowcott Trio enjoy playing a varied program for string trio, from light Classical and Baroque pieces through to Tangos and Joplin Rags. They are available for Weddings and Receptions, Birthdays, official Functions, Garden Parties, in fact any setting where subtle string music adds the final touch to the event. They are able to play indoors or outdoors. Although their instruments don’t appreciate being in direct sunlight, the trio will happily sit in the shade of a tree if you would like them at your outdoor event. They can also provide a String Quartet if this is what you would prefer for your function. Sandra Crawshaw, another violinist from the Southern Sinfonia, joins them for these occasions.
