Barry Clewett
Has been writing arrangements for and conducting big bands for what
seems like ages in Auckland.
The Barry Clewett Show Band is a 12 piece medium/big band formed
especially for the Civic Winter Garden Dance Series. It includes
some of Auckland's best known players.
3 trumpets, trombone,3 saxes, guitar, piano, bass, and drums
complete the lineup with June Hayes and Barry Clewett himself on
vocals.
Styles of music include the Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Tommy
Dorsey, Glen Miller era right through to numbers by Boyzone, Abba,
The Beatles,Herb Alpert, James Last, Chicago, Blood Sweat &
Tears, not to forget Barry's specialty of Frank Sinatra.
Performances by this band are enjoyed by serious dancers as the
repertoire includes Latin American, Jive, Waltzes, Rock 'n Roll,
plus the usual Quicksteps & Fox-trots.

for both small and large bands. In addition to writing charts
for this band, Barry arranges for Beats
Working , Downbeat Big Band, June
Hayes combo, and writes arrangements for many school and
other professional bands throughout Australasia. He can even
compose a song for a special event if desired.
