Anthony Charles started his singing career in the 80’s and established a country and western band called ‘The Cactus’ in Malaysia. They played traditional country and western music ranging from Hank Williams, Charley Pride, Johnny Cash to Merle Haggard. As their popularity grew they moved to country clubs, hotels, pubs and restaurants. He has appeared in variety shows in Singapore and Australia as guest artist.

Charles migrated to New Zealand with his family in 2004, Country and Western music has always been his passion and he is making a comeback in the Auckland music scene, with a strong voice, full backing tracks and his good ‘ole fashioned guitar with the occasional harmonica for a variation.

His music library has a good selection of up tempo dance numbers to keep the crowd on the floor. Yes, why not the cha-cha, waltz, mambo, fox trot, swing, rumba, rock n roll and even the tango?!

Mostly doing covers, he is still “deep in the heart of Texas” going back to the songs from popular country stars like Charley Pride, George Strait, Mavericks and Alan Jackson.

He is working on a country gospel album to be released in future.
